ESTABLISHMENT GUIDE

SUNLIGHT

Minimum 6 hours of direct sunlight daily.

SEEDING TIMING

Plant in spring when conditions are favourable or in late summer (August–September) when adequate moisture is available.

FERTILITY

Apply 1–2 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. of a balanced fertilizer such as 19-19-19 before or shortly after planting.

SEEDING RATE

1 lb per 1,000 sq. ft. Packing or firming the soil after seeding can improve germination success.

ONGOING MANAGEMENT

 FIRST YEAR

  • Monitor moisture conditions during establishment to support vigorous growth

  • Apply additional fertilizer if needed to maximize forage production.

  • Avoid excessive grazing pressure during early establishment.
